Reinventing the wheel... One program at-a-time.
Sitemap++ Build and Submit Your Sitemap
Now a days, just simply submitting your website's URL to search engines is no longer good enough.  If you want to ensure they swing by and index your website you need to create & maintain an up-to-date sitemap.xml file.  If your site has a ton of links then this could be a huge task.  Well...not if you use Sitemap++!

Using the crawling engine I created for getPHOTO() I was able to quickly put together a program that really simplifies the whole sitemap.xml process.

Overview

Sitemap++ works by crawling your website for internal links (using your project's settings) and creating, saving & posting the resulting sitemap.xml file to your server (uploading to a server is optional).

Highlights:

  • Automatically crawls your website.
  • Easy to modify link properties.
  • Rescan to add new links or overwrite existing links.
  • QuickLinks help you submit and update your sitemap to Google, Bing, Yahoo & Ask.
  • Powerful crawling engine allows you to specify page to exclude (and even keyword sequences too).
  • Unlimited Sitemap projects - manage multiple websites.
  • and more...

Tip:

Nearly all search engines (Google, Bing and Yahoo!) require you to create an account using their respective webmaster tools.  This is a very important step because they need you to verify you are the owner of your website (by placing a file or embedding an META tag onto your primary page).  Once verified you can use their tools to upload (submit) your sitemap (first time).

NOTE:  You only need to submit (and validate) your sitemap once.  You can then use the sitemap ping HTTP menu links directly from Sitemap++.
